Digital Massing Model

Digital Massing Model

This is my Digital massing model. When looking at the geometry of my model you can see "L" shape. I choose this shape to represent the how we capture views.
The Red color that continuously wraps the white, indicates where natural light needs to be controlled more as well as to indicate where it is more private like Studios and computers.
The white indicates where it is public and open where Natural will pour into the space.

Study Models and Concepts

The idea for these models is abstract images taken from my Connection Collage which is on the upper left of the sheet. The inter twined colorful material with a sphere like sliver material is to represent what connects everyone to the world. The wave like arches is to represent the Digital Cloud, The offset arches place in such a way to show separation but still have connection, determining ones point of view.

This Collage is that of my Impression of the site. Whiles visiting site this showed one of the most picturesque views of Manhattan from Brooklyn, and to try my best to capture it, so I did. In my models I try to show the frames for capturing that feeling.

My Typology is a representation of the programs in this media center. The Model is extruded shapes found in this collage and placed together to show a happy relations with each other.

Concept Development

Concept Development:

Typology Collage

This Typology Collage is a representation of what the programs from this media center will introduce to this historic, yet modern developing neighborhood. The young lady rejoicing surrounded by the imagery of technology, both Hardware and Software represents the knowledge that everyone can learn in from a multimedia center and how exciting technology can be.

Concept Development:

Connection Collage

In this Collage I choose to use Technology to indicate connection. Human as a species has changed how we interact with each other, due modern technological tools such a Computers, Cell phones and The Cloud. Therefore we are no longer separated through languages or distance but we are now members of a global village.

Concept Development:

Impression Of the Site

Upon visiting the site, while approaching its location, the only thing that I since was that of how stunning the views of Historic Dumbo’s waterfront as well as that of Manhattan's classical and modern skyline. But like the saying goes when you are caught steering, “you should take a picture.” So I framed it.

Concept Development:

Material/ Impressions of the Site Collage

The site is Located in Dumbo, a cultural and historical neighborhood in Brooklyn for which many of the current structures are still created with the construction material brick, which dominates the vernacular of the neighborhood, and most of street are lined with Cobble stone and in key locations near the site there are traces of the stone used for the construction of the Famous Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. But Dumbo is a evolving neighborhood, so more modern material such as glass and steel is becoming  more popular.
